When Charlottesville happened a few weeks ago, it was a shocking experience for most around the country. Certainly, millennials have a different take on history in today's time. Whereas history was considered more valuable in the past, some school programs have placed less emphasis on history, which should inspire families to share historical facts and even some opinions regarding the past. In fact, children know that if they are not in touch with their history, the future will wither. During the summer, my children were required to prepare history facts onto index cards and create booklets about certain aspects of history. They enjoyed the activity because it helped them understand better, where certain phrases originated, inventors that constructed things that we use today, and so forth.
