I came upon this article and found that it was a dilemma that I encountered many many times with families. Often, families enter early childhood communities with many questions, and an auto-mistrust for the program, while realizing that they must enroll their children because they must return to work. I always told prospective families that they must feel comfortable leaving their children, every program is not going to accommodate their children. Most children adapt to a new environment within about 30 days, provided that the routines are consistent. Part time children may take an additional 30 days. Consistency is key! If a child isn't able to adjust to a program, there may be unseen reasons why, but I encourage parent meetings if things seem to be going negatively. Go with your gut, always!
